Who would have thought a concept drawing by famous designer Giugiaro would go so far? That’s how things started for the Lexus GS.

Who would have thought a concept drawing by famous designer Giugiaro would go so far? That’s how things started for the Lexus GS.

The model has since been on the market for a little over 20 years and has become the symbol of what Lexus could do in terms of driving excitement. Today, the spirited sedan is more striking than ever with a bold new design and the addition of a letter that represents the pinnacle of sport driving: F.

This year, the Lexus GS has undergone an impressive transformation. From low-key sedan, it’s now sporting the full-on va-va-voom with the arrowhead LED strip underlying the headlights and the massive hourglass grille.

Plenty of Style for the 2016 Lexus GS

This sedan has turned into a statement piece. The coupe-inspired silhouette and redesigned character lines ooze sexiness and will do everything but leave onlookers indifferent. With the choice of 18 or 19-inch wheels, there is no hiding the intentions of this car, a blend of luxury and sport. In 2016, the GS also receives Lexus’ F treatment for a little boost to the already spirited sedan. The GS F further enhances the aggressiveness of the design with a lower gravity center and large air ducts framing the signature mesh spindle grille.

Who said an exciting drive had to be selfish: this sport sedan can receive up to five passengers and with a 530L trunk, which means buying into a sport lineup doesn’t always mean having to compromise on space.

On the inside, the cockpit remains familiar and the changes are far less dramatic, with the swooping dashboard lines and the integrated 12.3-inch touchscreen display. The sedan also comes equipped with heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate controls, leather surfaces with heated front and rear seats, backup camera, navigation, cruise control, garage opener, wheel-mounted commands, head-up display, full infotainment system with Bluetooth streaming and satellite radio, and such.

A sport drive doesn’t mean safety is to be neglected, the Lexus GS is equipped with numerous features to ensure everyone’s safety, including pre-collision system, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure warning with steering assist, blind spot monitor, rear-cross traffic alert and much more.

Plenty of Engine Choices for the 2016 Lexus GS

Power in the 2016 GS is provided by a 3.5L V6 engine producing 311 hp. The GS 450h is also equipped with the Lexus Hybrid Drive technology for an improved fuel economy for a combined average of 7.6L/100km. The entry-level GS 350 is offered in an all-wheel drive layout, whereas the hybrid is available only with the rear-wheel drive. As for the GS F, it is true to its sports ambitions with a 5.0L V8 engine producing 467 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque sent to the rear wheels.

The 2016 Lexus GS and GS F combine the convenience of a luxury sedan with the spirit of a sportier personality. The redesigned GS and GS F are available at Lexus Kingston
