Published on October 19 2015

Completely redesigned in 2016, the Lexus RX now stands out even more.

A complete makeover for the 2016 Lexus RX

Continually on top when it comes to sales within its segment, the Lexus RX stands out by offering quite a bit of technology, a lot of comfort, luxury, and of course performance. It also happens to be fuel-efficient, especially in its hybrid version. It is actually one of the few models in its segment to offer a hybrid engine. Completely redesigned in 2016, the Lexus RX now stands out even more. It has been completely revamped this year and now offers even more of what buyers love as well as a new design that is more aggressive and even more noticeable.

When it comes to engines offered in the 2016 Lexus RX, there aren’t that many surprises although Lexus engineers did improve the available powertrains. They are now even more fuel-efficient and even more powerful. The base engine is a 3.5-liter V6 that delivers 295 horsepower and an improved 268 lb-ft of torque. The extra punch is noticeable on the road, and the RX is now livelier as soon as you hit the gas.

The engine is now quicker in its response which means that passing and accelerating off the line are a breeze. The driver can also change how the RX responds on the road thanks to a button located next to the shifter. When put in the sportiest mode, the RX can handle any twisting road with confidence as the driver will feel everything tighten up. The engine also reacts even faster, and steering is vastly improved. An eight-speed automatic is used to send power to all four wheels which means the RX is capable of handling any weather.

The 2016 Lexus RX in a hybrid version

On the other hand, if fuel-economy is your main priority, than you may want to turn to the Lexus RX 450h and its hybrid engine which features an average fuel economy rating of 8.0 liters per 100 kilometers. That’s roughly 3.0 liters per 100 kilometers less than the V6. The 450h also has plenty of power on tap with 308 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque which is considerable given how fuel-efficient the 450h is both on paper and in the real world.

Inside the RX, Lexus has made several key improvements including the wood grain which is now much more upscale and quite beautiful to look at. There is also a huge central screen that features the navigation system and the infotainment menus. Buyers will not remember ever seeing a central screen that big in a modern car.

Of course, the RX is comfortable on the road and supremely quiet. To learn more about the 2016 Lexus RX, contact us today at Lexus of Kingston!
